Parkinson’s is a very individual illness and receiving the diagnosis will affect each person differently. Some people feel relief at knowing the cause of their symptoms, others are shocked and may feel angry or numb.
When trying to take in the fact that you have Parkinson’s it may be hard to remember what your doctor has said, so don’t be afraid to make another appointment to talk about any issues that you do not understand. Something that may be helpful is to write a list of questions as they come to mind so that you can raise these with your doctor or specialist when you next meet.
